Come for one or come for all 
 
Come for as many as you can.  We'll be having fun all day. All one hour, mini workshops will be $10 each with maximum of 8 people.  Give me a call, stop by, or e-mail me if you'd like to sign up.
 
9:00 - 10:00 Provisional Cast on
We'll practice my preferred method (using a crochet hook) and discuss other ways to make this very popular cast on.
Homework/Materials: 2 colors of any weight yarn, crochet hook and needle size appropriate for the yarn.
 
10:30 - 11:30 Kitchener Stitch
We'll practice this seamless seaming technique several times and I'll provide a handy take away card that you can refer back to later. 
Homework/Materials: 2 swatches 20 stitches wide and at least 3 inches long left on the needles, tapestry needle, yarn in contrasting color. 
* Your finished swatches can be used for perfect pick up and applied i-cord, if you're staying.
 
12:00 - 1:00 Mattress Stitch
This stitch will give your seams the perfect finish you hope for.
Homework/Materials: 3 swatches, 20 stitches wide and at least 4 inches long cast off, tapestry needle, a few yards of yarn in a contrasting color. 
* Your finished swatches can be used for perfect pick up and applied i-cord, if you're staying.
 
1:30 - 2:30 Perfect Pick Up
Picking up stitches correctly can make a big difference in how your finished item looks.  We'll learn the techniques for how, how many, and where to pick up (and some tricks) to make your items perfectly picked up.
Homework/Materials: 1 swatch, 20 stitches wide and at least 5 inches long, cast off, needles used to make the swatch, a few yards of yarn to use for pick up.
* Your finished swatches can be used for applied i-cord, if you're staying.
 
3:00 - 4:00 Applied I-cord
This finishing technique gives your sweaters and other knit items the professional edges you expect. I'll bring some examples of how it completes the look perfectly.
Homework/Materials: 1 swatch, 20 stitches wide and at least 6 inches long, cast off, double point needle in the same size as your knit your swatch

How To Class - April 2015

HOW TO DO A PROVISIONAL CAST-ON CLASS

So many patterns call for this cast on which, when done correctly, is easily removed later to reveal live stitches.  In this quick class I'll teach you one method for successfully doing this cast on and how to remove it later to get the live stitches.

Materials: about 25 yards of worsted weight yarn, about 3 yards of waste yarn in a different color, G or H crochet hook, and size 8 knitting needles.

HOW TO FIX MISTAKES CLASS

In this class Sharon will teach you how to fix all the typical knitting mistakes.  You will learn to pick up dropped stitches, undo the knit stitch, undo the purl stitch, undo a K2tog, and undo an SSK.  She will also show you how to pick up forgotten yarn overs, to do a basic rip back, and pick up live stitches and orient them properly. If there is time you'll also learn how to install a lifeline, and then rip back to pick up the stitches on the lifeline.  I this is definitely two hours well spent!

HOW TO FIX MISTAKES CLASS

In this class Sharon will teach you how to fix the typical knitting mistakes.

You will learn to pick up dropped stitches, undo the knit stitch, undo the purl stitch, undo a K2tog, and undo an SSK.  She will also show you how to pick up forgotten yarn overs, to do a basic rip back, and pick up live stitches and orient them properly.

If there is time you'll also learn how to install a lifeline, and then rip back to pick up the stitches on the lifeline.

You will definitely feel this was two hours well spent!

How To Class - March 2015

HOW TO CROCHET CLASS
 
In this seven week course I'll teach you the basics of crochet.  We'll begin with how to hold your hook and tension your yarn.  We'll work through the basic crochet stitches, focusing on a new stitch each week.  In the last class we'll learn to follow a short pattern that uses many of the stitches you learned.
 
Dates/Times: Thursdays, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, and May 7, 14 9:00 -10:00
